- This is a picture of my daughter, Maura. She died from metastatic high-grade unclassified sarcoma* on May 19, 2009 at the age of 22. For one year I wrote about her journey with cancer. I don't know if I'll keep writing now or if I'm done. We'll just take it a day at a time. *Sarcoma is a little-known, under-researched, under-funded cancer. We pray that be a time of hope and peace, joy and remembrance. I pray that Maura's home-going be used to remind us expectantly of all that waits in Heaven.
Maura, I will never forget you though I taught you voice lessons long ago at Spring High School. And dear Danielle whom I taught as well. Mrs. DeSouza, I remember you well, loving and supporting your beautiful and talented girls. Maura was a ray of sunshine in my life. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will never ever forget any of you. I will keep you in my prayers.
